Welcome to the heart of sustainability and innovation in Pistoia, where GEA - Green Economy and Agriculture - was born. Founded with the goal of promoting innovative local productivity and preserving our region, GEA is a one-of-a-kind centre for research, strategically situated at the gateway to the city, opposite the San Jacopo Hospital.

Mission and Objectives

GEA is committed to promoting environmental sustainability and the development of scientific and entrepreneurial research. With a particular focus on sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, and the circular economy, we strive to improve the well-being of our citizens and to make the most of our region’s natural resources.

The Beauty of Nature

GEA extends over an area of approximately 25 hectares, half of which is devoted to a wide variety of ornamental plants. These plants, part of the Banca del Germoplasma (Germoplasm Bank) represent a precious genetic heritage and serve as an educational tool for students and those passionate about this field.

Infrastructure and Resources

Inside our centre you will find not only offices and cutting-edge laboratories but also spaces devoted to research and the preservation of medicinal plants. In addition, a computerised weather station constantly monitors the local climate, supporting our research and preservation activities.

A Park for Everyone

GEA is more than just a research facility. It is a place where members of the community can meet others and make discoveries. Our two parks - one scientific/biotechnological and the other urban/regional - provide spaces for advanced research and public enjoyment, promoting environmental well-being, sports, and environmental education.

Come discover our centre and join us in our commitment to a greener future for everyone.
