Next to the GEA Park there is also an example of architectural heritage that blends harmoniously with the surrounding natural environment, providing a unique experience combining science with beauty. Discover the places that make our park a centre for research and contemplation.

The Research Centre

The beating heart of GEA is the Research Centre, a modern 600-square-meter building planned to facilitate study and innovation in the field of environmental science. Here researchers and experts collaborate to promote the awareness and preservation of biodiversity.

Inside the Research Centre are cutting-edge laboratories provided with the latest scientific equipment. Here scientists conduct experiments and tests to better understand the local ecosystem and create innovative solutions for its preservation, particularly at the Laboratorio fitosanitario della Regione Toscana (Tuscan Regional Plant Health Laboratory).

The Research Centre houses the laboratories of GEA Lab and the Laboratorio fitosanitario della Regione Toscana.

Laboratorio fitosanitario della Regione Toscana

The Laboratorio fitosanitario della Regione Toscana is devoted to the analysis and diagnosis of plant diseases, offering comprehensive, specialised services. Organised in areas by function and provided with laboratories and dedicated spaces, a team of experts is subdivided based on their technical and scientific competencies in the identification and diagnosis of diseases caused by viruses, bacteria, fungi, phytoplasma, nematodes, insects, and mites.

The Laboratorio conducts its work following rigorous procedures established by a quality management system in order to achieve the goals of the phytosanitary sector and provides official phytosanitary analyses to support inspection, monitoring, and certification carried out by the phytosanitary sector.

In addition, the Laboratorio provides phytopathological diagnostic and phytoiatric consultancy services upon request from professionals in the agricultural sector. These services promote preventive and defense strategies for plants, contributing to qualitative improvement of agricultural production on the part of agricultural entrepreneurs and those working in the sector.

GEA Lab

The innovative start-up GEA Lab is committed to promoting new entrepreneurship in the region, creating essential connections between research and markets. In particular, it facilitates the process of technology transfer, collaborating with universities and supporting the creation of innovative start-ups, following them in a gradual process that goes from the initial ‘pre-seed’ and ‘proof of concept’ stage all the way to the industrialisation and marketing stage.

The Conference Hall

The GEA Park conference hall is a space devoted to the sharing of knowledge and of scientific discoveries. Here meetings, seminars, and workshops are organised in order to involve the local and international communities in the debate about environmental conservation. The hall seats fifty people.

Administrative Offices

The administrative offices are the point of contact for those who wish to acquire a better knowledge of the centre’s activities and initiatives. Our team is always available to assist you and to provide useful information for your visit and for opportunities to get involved.

The spaces also house the headquarters of the Ordine dei Dottori Agronomi e Forestali (Order of Doctors of Agronomy and Forestry) of the province of Pistoia.

Organic Architecture

All the buildings in the GEA Park are planned with special attention to the surrounding environment. The organic architecture blends harmoniously with nature, creating a unique space where science and beauty come together.
